"Spring in Lisbon is pure magic—golden sunlight, warm breezes, and the scent of blooming jacaranda trees filling the air. When Margarida and Miguel reached out for their engagement session, they wanted something relaxed, fun, and romantic. We chose the historic heart of the city, where cobblestone streets, azulejo-tiled facades, and breathtaking viewpoints created the perfect setting.
A Stroll Through the Heart of Alfama
We started our afternoon in Alfama, Lisbon’s oldest and most picturesque neighborhood. As Margarida and Miguel wandered hand in hand, the winding alleyways and rustic balconies provided a beautifully intimate backdrop. As a documentary engagement photographer, I find that Alfama's 'hidden gems'—from ivy-covered doorways to sun-dappled staircases—are perfect for capturing a couple’s genuine connection without the crowds.
The Iconic Yellow Tram & Riverside Romance
No Lisbon photoshoot is complete without the famous yellow trams! We captured some playful, spontaneous shots as the tram rattled by, before heading down to the Tagus River. Against the shimmering water and under the grand arches of Praça do Comércio, the soft afternoon light created a dreamy, cinematic atmosphere. This area offers that iconic 'Lisbon scale' that looks incredible in a wide-angle editorial shot.
Golden Hour at Miradouro de Santa Catarina
As the sun began to dip, we ended the session at Miradouro de Santa Catarina, one of Lisbon’s most breathtaking viewpoints. The golden hues of the sunset wrapped around them as they held each other close, soaking in the beauty of the city stretching out below. It was the perfect finale to a session that was all about timeless romance.
