Engagement Session in Sintra, Portugal | Sara + Afonso
Sun, Stone, and Sea: A Sintra Story
There is a specific kind of stillness you only find inside the Sintra forest when the sun is high and the wind stays quiet. When I met Sara and Afonso for their engagement session, I knew immediately we werenβt going to spend the day "posing." They are a beautifully relaxed couple, more interested in being present with each other than looking at my lens.
From the Forest...
We began our afternoon tucked away in the woods of Convento da Peninha. Under a brilliant blue sky, the light filtered through the canopy in sharp, clean rays. We wandered the trails, focusing entirely on candid, authentic moments. There were no forced smilesβjust the two of them laughing and exploring the ancient woodland.
...To the Edge of the World
As the golden hour approached, we moved to the cliffs overlooking Praia da Ursa. The transition from the intimate forest to the vast Atlantic horizon was breathtaking.
Bathed in the warmth of a perfect Portuguese sunset, Sara and Afonso stood on the rugged precipice. With the iconic sea stacks below and a cloudless sky above, we captured the raw, effortless connection they share. It was a day that reminded me why I love being a photographer in Sintra: the landscape is dramatic, but the real story is always in the quiet, genuine moments between two people.
